Quite good value for money, good the happy hour, but don't go to maxine's to have dinner if you don't like loud music.

Every night music events, a few steps from the beach and Lincoln Boulevard shopping

The location of the hotel is good. The shuttle service is a plus. The sushi that was served at the hotel restaurant was the best. The hotel is good for people between 18-25 years old that wants to party.

I believe that the employees are really not being paid enough. They seems really unhappy. During the happy hour which takes place between 7-8 pm, the hotel was suppose to give free drinks. However, if you do not give tips, they are giving you a cocktail without alcohol (they really appreciate 5$ tips but I dont understand the point since I will buy a really good drink anywhere by giving 10$) About the rooms, although the rooms are well decorated, the two rooms that we stayed were looking to the windows of the next hotel, so that we do not understand whether it is raining outside or not...One more thing, the nose that the air condition is doing was incredible...I Guess the the air condition was manufactured before 1980s. One of the drawbacks of the hotel that I should add, the hotel is not providing deck chair at the beach, so that each time that you go to the beach, you should hire chair and towels from other hotels in the South Beach.

The airport shuttle, the free happy hour, the rooftop pools. The location is ideal and close to the beach, nightlife and Lincoln Road. It's a great value.

The rooms are a bit small, dark too.

Location and value was why I chose to stay at this hotel which is conveniently located in south beach

My room was noisy as it faced the street, and was situated above the bar/outdoor area of the hotel. I had gotten a pretty reasonable rate on the room, so that offset the noise factor. I was pretty slow in south beach during the time I was there. Had it been high travel season, I think the noise factor could have been much more of a problem.

I am a female solo traveller and this was my first time in South Beach. I felt totally safe and relaxed at The Catalina. I stayed in the Dorset building and the room was lovely, with a huge tv comfy bed. If you are a solo, duo or group that isnt worried about beach veiws or ott extravegance, this is perfect! The location is amazing! I loved the pools and access to the beach with my own beach chairs and umbella to utilize. I booked a tour to Disneyland here too! I recommend staying at the Catalina as it has many things going for it!

I read other reveiws that noted the lighting in the hallways was a bit dark, but I dont really like overly bright lights inside.. Other than that I can not say anything really bad.

We travelled as a family of three generations and the Catalina suited us all. The rooftop is excellent with a wonderful pool, a great bar and peaceful sitting area. We also ate in the restaurant one evening and enjoyed the great entertainment provided by a good guitarist. The food wasn't the best but the atmosphere was great - probably helped along by the free cocktail hour we had just enjoyed. The Catalina is located in a great spot just one block back from South Beach. I thought this hotel was a little gem. When I booked the Catalina I was quite aprehensive that it wouldn't be as good as it seemed - but it was and I am hard to please!!

I found the rooms a little gloomy with the dark woodwork and the bathroom/shower room was very small with nowhere to put any toiletry bags and personal items. The corridors were also dark and quite gloomy - but once you got used to them it was a good trade off for the great pools and other great areas in the hotel.

Location is good to explore South Beach. Everything within walking distance.

Staff! Front desk lady always pushing a tour on us (it's going to rain! No beach!... Never rained) and then telling us they had an open bar happy hour for guests which wasn'T... Only rum, gin, and vodka drinks (no beer?) and martinis don't count as gin drinks... But only explained after your order was delivered and they charged you $20 for a martini and a Miller Lite. Place is expensive but the whole attitude was just trying to chintz more from you.

The room was on the first floor right off from the bar. The person who checked us in said it would be loud until 12:30am, well that was not the case it was loud the entire time. I had to buy earplugs because it was so noisey. Our ipod speakers didn't work, the phone didn't work, and the room had 1 light in it, so I couldnt see anything when getting ready. Will not be staying there again.

The rooftop pool was fantastic, Roberto was amazing host upstairs, always there for a laugh and to fill up our drinks. The vibe was amazing. A great party hotel - we went for a bachelor party and we had an incredible time.

    The service at the rooftop

The fact that hotel doesn't stated that by using a debit card you will have to pay a additional hundred.

  • Group of friends

We loved the bamboo garden pool and the friendly nature of the staff.

The "shows" the hotel promotes were hardly shows. We were excited to see the burlesque show by the Reckless Dames they were promoting, but it was really just a hodge podge of stripper moves at the entrance to their restaurant - clearly no choreography or even a stage. The waiters were having to walk through the dancers - dancers were having to stop & move. Very bizarre! We also found it strange to have to walk out the front hotel entrance and travel to the neighboring buildings to visit either pool.

  • Couple

Hotel corridors give a bad impression (Maxine building) but rooms are better than expected. Breakfast at Maxine's really good. Free beach towels and chairs, free use of bikes. Good location for Lincoln. Free shuttle from airport (although not well organised!)

First impression - had to go through bar to get to lift to room, corridors smelt of damp. Really loud air conditioning. Shuttle from airport - recieved no information from hotel about where/how to get it and had to treck round airport to find infomation.
