overall facilities were good. we got free cocktail in happy hour, free beach chairs and towels and free bike. Though they charged 15 dollar per night for those facilities.
The bathroom is too small. The attached restaurant Maxim's bistro was expensive.
Hotel was very nice, clean and well operated
The service in the 24 hour resturant next store (part of the catalina) was absolutly terible. The lamps above the bed got so hot u you could not touch it at all after it's been on for 5 min not even the handle on it.
Location and nice pool accomodations top the best of list ofr this hotel, which is actually 3 different hotels in one complex.
Loud music on from 10am till 1am. Good for partying, bad for recovering from partying. Small rooms w/ balcony no big enough to stand on, but nothing to see so you won't want to.
non-stop house music - at 3 am was difficult to fall asleep
I'm still trying to figure out something good to say. But I think that the location is the best thing, near to Linconl Rd.
Do not stay there! I dont know how to explain how terrible this experience was. - We had to walk through the "club" to get to, down a dark hallway, smeely bad, to our room. - I was SHOCKED with the furniture. It looks like cheap plastic IKEA. - The walls are THIN. The room was very noisy. - Parking: Valet-only and I had to take everything out of the car myself. USD 32,00 PER DAY! I used the valet for 3 days, they charged 5 days and after 30 minutes "checking" they removed the 2 wrong days, but i'm 100% sure they knew that they were wrong. - Smelled musty, bed squeaked, black mold and gunk in the shower. - Lighting was horrible inside our room. - Don't expect the beds to be comfortable. - $15 per day "Resort Fee". For what?
I loved everthing about the hotel! I would most definelty stay there again
The beach cruiser bikes and access to the beach and lounge chairs was very nice.
Very big, comfortable, modern, new and clean room. Great atmosphere due to mostly young people staying in the hotel and different evening show every day, 2 excellent restaurants inside hotel serving till 5am and 1 starbucks at reception, 2 pools inside building and beach at the opposite side of collins avenue, hotel located near lincoln road and espanyola way. Simply excellent!
Doorset room we booked was supposed to have 2 double beds according to Booked.net, but upon arrival we were told by the woman at reception that available rooms only had 1 king bed. This was compensated by the fact that the size of the room and the king bed is more than enough for 2 people. Price shown in Booked.net didn't include 13% state/city/county taxes making the overall price more expensive than expected.
Close proximity to the convention center and the beach.
No remote for the tv, walls are too thin (all night party people in the next room), run down carpet, red painting on walls made me feel like I was in the "red light" district.
This is one of the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in. The free airport shuttle was very convenient. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice. My favourite was the free cocktails for one hour every evening, you wont see that anywhere else. An amazing place, I will definitly be back
Everything was so cool there...happy hour, shuttle service. Great friendly service from the crew!!! If I stay again in miami south beach,im surely come back to catalina hotel!!!
I hadn't got a reservation, Receptionist told me that they have no room for tonight, I said okey, entered Booked.net from my iphone at lobby, book a reservation for the cheapest price! And I said I had a reservation.. :) asked that why did you say me that you dont have any room for tonight? He couldn't say anything and gave my key, weird
I was attending a conference in the Miami Beach Convention Center. The Catalina is a very short walk to the convention center. (Go up Collins and take a left at 18th street and walk into Hall B.) It is also a block from the beach. Our room (112 in Dorsett) was large enough for myself & my daughter and her friend, who visited from New York and LA. (Two people slept on the large king bed & one on the sofa.) They had some trouble with the air conditioning while I was there, but did deduct the resort fees as compensation. The room was behind a sushi restaurant but we had no problem with noise. This would be an excellent choice for someone who wants to be close to the convention center, but also wants to go to the beach. The hotel has three buildings, with varying room sizes. The hotel also has a small rooftop pool and free happy hour (with basic drinks offered, e.g. vodka and tonic but no mojitos etc.). Overall this hotel is nice, not too fancy, and offers good value.
They did have some problems with the AC towers when we were there.
The Catalina has a great rooftop pool and is in the perfect location for South Beach, Lincoln Ave and Ocean Drive. The service was great and I would definitely recommend it.
We had 3 people in our room and it was a little cramped, the bathroom is quite small.
